Debby’s cucumbers

I’m on the board of the Indian Ponds Association, the group that tries to safeguard the health of the pond we live on and the two ponds adjoining.  Every year, our neighbors the Halperts are generous enough to volunteer their house as the venue for the annual meeting.  And, every year, the weather cooperates, and we sit out on the lawn overlooking the pond and talk IPA business.

Debby Halpert is a gardener, and every year I admire her handiwork and quiz her on her techniques.  This year,  my timing was such that she was harvesting some cucumbers that had been on the vine just a hair too long.  There were several, and she gave me two.  They were crunchy and sweet.
