Today was the oyster season opener.
Every year, the town of Barnstable grows oysters, and plants them for the recreational shellfishers. The fact that Kevin and I have turned pro doesn’t stop us from getting our recreational permit and our weekly half-peck while the season lasts.
On opening day, the beach is almost literally tiled with oysters. You can get your limit (a half-peck is about 50 oysters) in ten minutes. Which is exactly what I did.
