Makeshift soup with clam juice and rosemary

It was going to be split pea soup, but after I sauteed my onions and carrots I discovered that my ham hock was moldy, so I had to change horses in midstream.  I used some leftover sausage, some frozen cod, a few white beans (and the aforementioned clam juice and rosemary), and came up with a respectable, if not a remarkable, dinner.

  1. It wasn’t bad, Gram, it wasn’t bad at all. I used a little Pernod, so it had a bouillabaisse-like flavor.
