The March harvest

March is the cruelest month. Oh, wait …

Here’s to eggs!

In any case, March is a terrible month for harvesting. I have lots of things that look promising for April, but what I have for March is eggs. Eighteen dozen eggs (we’ve got one fewer chicken, since an unfortunate incident early in the month). Other than that, I’ve got some lettuce, a few herbs, and one day lily that I filched from behind the feed store. Humiliating, I know.

So, that’s 18×800, which is 14,400, plus about 100 for the rest. 14,500 for March. That’s not even 10% of the 150,000 monthly calories, let alone the 20% we’re aiming for. But I knew these months would be slow. On the positive side, fishing season starts soon!

Yeah, this is the lean time in which you’re supposed to get that body ready for it’s summer posing. It’s also the reason why we eat so much in Autumn.
