Strawberry gin and tonic

Kevin and I spent the whole day working on the smokehouse.  It was almost sunset when we finally quit, and neither of us was particularly hungry (we’d had a late lunch).  I was making us a couple of gin and tonics, and I happened to spy the bowl of strawberries.  Here’s what ensued:

Strawberry Gin and Tonic
(makes two tall drinks)

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
6 ice cubes
2-3 ounces gin
juice of half a lime
2-4 T. sugar (optional, depending on your taste and the sweetness of the berries)
tonic

Put all the ingredients except the tonic in a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour in two tall glasses with ice, and add tonic to fill (make sure you get at least half a cup of tonic per drink). Garnish with mint, lime, or nothing.

  1. So it’s not just me that considers a gin and tonic supper then? I like this recipe. Adding fruit makes it healthy.

  2. First of all, I’d like to thank you for the recipe. It was amazing! I did change some amounts of the ingredients to make it a little better to my liking. I doubled this recipe so I would get a full batch (75% blender full with strawberries, 12 ice cubes, 8 ounces gin, juice of a full lime, 2-3 spoons of sugar). Also I added half a banana which turned out pretty good!
