Mushrooms in beef with black bean sauce

This was my first attempt at black bean sauce, having finally procured some fermented black beans from a Chinese grocery in Boston.  It was pretty good, but I’m going to make it a couple more times before I give you the recipe.

The mushrooms were great.  Meaty, firm, delicious.

  1. Love, love, love black bean sauce. I just made mapo dofu the other day after hunting down all kinds of crazy ingredients (including fermented black beans from 99 Ranch Market in Van Nuys) and it was spectacular! Yum!
