If you can boil water, you can make strawberry-rhubarb compote. We ate it over vanilla ice cream last night, and I had it in my oatmeal this morning.
Strawberry-rhubarb compote
3 cups chopped rhubarb (about a pound)
4 cups chopped strawberries (about a pound)
1/3 cup sweet white wine (or water)
1/2 cup sugar (give or take)
Put the rhubarb, strawberries, wine, and half the sugar in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil, and then simmer until everything has broken down, about 7-10 minutes. Taste, and add more sugar until it tastes the way you like it.
